If you’re planning a Las Vegas elopement and trying to figure out when to do it, I’m going to save you a lot of Googling and just tell you exactly what it’s like to shoot in this city across all four seasons because I do it year-round and I have very strong feelings about all of them.
The short answer is that fall and spring are the sweet spots, and if that’s when you’re thinking of coming, book me now because I mean it when I say those months fill up fast. But let me actually walk you through all four seasons so you know what you’re working with no matter when you’re thinking of eloping.
Fall (October and November)
This is it. This is the one. Fall in Las Vegas is genuinely perfect. We’re talking highs in the low 70s to low 80s, cool evenings, gorgeous light, and a city that is absolutely buzzing with energy. October especially is one of my favorite months to shoot because the temperature is comfortable enough that you’re not melting in your dress or your suit, the sun sets at a reasonable hour which means we get that incredible golden hour light, and the streets are full of people and life which makes for such dynamic photos. November is slightly cooler and starts to wind down toward the end of the month, but it’s still really beautiful and a fantastic time to elope. If fall is on your radar, please reach out sooner rather than later because these months are my busiest and I book up quickly. I cannot stress that enough.
Spring (March, April, and May)
Spring is a very close second to fall and honestly some people prefer it. March and April are stunning. Temperatures are mild, usually sitting somewhere between the mid-60s and high 70s, and the city feels really alive after the slower winter months. May is still great but it starts to creep toward warmer territory toward the end of the month, so if you’re doing May just keep that in mind. Spring elopements have this really fresh, bright energy to them that I absolutely love shooting. The light is gorgeous, you’re comfortable, and Vegas is in full swing. Just like fall, spring books up really fast so if you’re eyeing March through May get in touch early.
Summer (June, July, and August)
Okay, I’m going to be real with you, summer in Las Vegas is hot. Like genuinely, impressively, aggressively hot. We’re talking average highs of 100 to 104 degrees in July and August, and that is not a number I’m throwing out casually. It is a lot. That said, summer elopements are absolutely doable and I shoot them all the time, we just have to be strategic about it. The biggest thing summer has going for it is that the sun stays out until almost 8pm, which means we have a huge window for golden hour and the light is absolutely stunning in the evening when it starts to cool down even slightly. We’d just plan your shoot for later in the day to avoid the worst of the heat, make sure you’re hydrated, and embrace the fact that Vegas in the summer has this wild, chaotic, sweat-through-it energy that honestly kind of fits the whole “we just eloped in Las Vegas” vibe perfectly. Hotel rates are also significantly cheaper in summer which is a nice bonus if you’re trying to make a whole trip out of it.
Winter (December, January, and February)
Winter is honestly the most underrated time to elope in Las Vegas and I will stand behind that. The crowds thin out, the city is quieter, hotel rates drop, and the weather is actually really manageable during the day. We’re usually looking at highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s which feels genuinely pleasant when you’re coming from somewhere that’s buried in snow. The thing to know about winter is that it gets dark early, so our shooting window is shorter than the rest of the year, and the evenings can get genuinely cold. We’re talking jacket weather, sometimes more. So if you’re planning a winter elopement just factor that into your outfit choices and know that we’ll want to start shooting earlier in the day to make the most of the daylight. The upside is that with fewer tourists around, some of the most iconic Vegas spots are way more accessible and you can actually breathe during your photos instead of fighting a crowd.
So there you have it. Every season in Las Vegas has something going for it, and honestly? Any time of year is a great time to elope here because this city is magic no matter what month it is.
